What think ye of Christ?
For the Christians who meet
at West Hill Gospel Hall,
we believe this is the most important question of all.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV

The Scriptures - The Bible, both Old and New Testament, is completely the Word of God. As originally given, it is God-inspired, without error, and entirely trustworthy. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and life. The Bible has Jesus Christ as its focus and fulfillment.
2 Peter 1:16-21; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Luke 24:27; Matthew 5:17-18; Isaiah 40:8; 1 Peter 1:24-25
God - We believe in one living and true God who is the creator and sustainer of all things. He exists in three equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1; Psalm 8; Psalm 2; Romans 8:28-30; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19-20
The Lord Jesus Christ - We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is true God and true man. He existed from eternity past with God the Father, became man through conception by the Holy Spirit, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross to pay the penalty for all sin. He was buried and rose bodily from the dead and ascended to His Father’s right hand in heaven where He now ministers as our Great High Priest.
Acts 2:31-32; Luke 24:39; Luke 1:27-35; John 1:1-15; Philippians 2:5-11; John 3:16; Colossians 1:14-19; Matthew 1:18-25; Isaiah 7:14; 2 John 7-9; Ephesians 1:20; Hebrews 1:1-3; Hebrews 2:14-17; Hebrews 4:14-16, Hebrews 7:11-17; Hebrews 9:24
Humanity - We believe that God created the human race in his image, with an eternal soul that will exist forever. Humankind was originally perfect until the first people, Adam and Eve, sinned against God in an act of rebellion and disobedience. As a result of this sin, the entire human race is separated from God, condemned to spiritual and physical death and unable to restore their original, perfect relationship with him without the saving work of Jesus Christ.
Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:16-17; Genesis 3:6; Genesis 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 3:9-20; Psalms 51:5; John 3:36; Romans 5:12-19
Holy Spirit - We believe in the absolute and essential deity and personality of the Holy Spirit who convinces of sin, of righteousness and of judgment; who regenerates, sanctifies, illuminates and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit enables believers to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ezekiel 36:27; John 16: 8-15; Titus 3:5-6; 1 Corinthians 12:11-13; Romans 8:9-14; Galatians 5:22-25
Salvation - Salvation is accomplished solely by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. He took our sin upon Himself and died in our place as an acceptable sacrifice to God. His atoning death is sufficient for all and effective for every person who repents and believes in Him, resulting in a reconciled relationship with God. Salvation is available by grace through faith. This salvation is not our own doing. It is the gift of God. This salvation, which includes our new birth and eternal inheritance, is kept by God’s power. It is therefore impossible for those who have been saved to lose their salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:6-10; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 Peter 2:24; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:1; John 17:17-19; 1 John 3:2; John 5:24; John 10:27-30; Romans 8:28-39; 1 Peter 1:3-5;
The Church - We believe all of those who accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord become part of His body, the universal church, of which Jesus is Head. Local assemblies of believers are visible representations of the universal church and gather regularly for the purpose of worship, teaching of the Word of God, the breaking of bread, prayer and fellowship with one another. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances: Believers’ Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Though not the means of salvation, these ordinances testify of the gospel. We believe God has committed the oversight of local churches to elders whom He qualifies and equips for this ministry. We are also called to serve each other using the spiritual gifts and talents God has given us, and to reach out to our community and to the world, in fulfillment of the scriptural command to make disciples of all nations.
Matthew 16:17-18; Acts 2:42; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 3:9- 10; Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28; Colossians 1:18; Luke 22:19-20; Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Timothy 3:1- 11; Acts 20:28
Future Things - We believe in the personal, imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory - an event that concludes the present age of grace. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and lost, and that the Lord Jesus Christ will judge both the living and the dead. We believe in the eternal salvation of believers with Christ in heaven and the eternal damnation of the lost.
