Staring May 1st, we will be hosting two weeks of gospel tent meetings with guest speakers Brian Crawford and Peter Lansing with the theme Messages of Hope.
There are many things for which we may “hope.” We hope that it won’t rain on our plans, or that a cure will be found. This kind of hope expresses our personal desires, but we live with the uncertainty of whether they will come to pass.
In the Bible, hope is the assurance of what will certainly happen. It is a firm conviction that all the promises of God will truly be fulfilled. “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast” (HEBREWS 6:19 NKJV). Hope also refers to the object of our trust. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our hope of eternal life. “The Lord Jesus Christ, our hope” (1TIMOTHY 1:1 NKJV). “The Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world” (1 JOHN 4:14).
Please solemnly consider that God promised we will all stand before Him some day. “God… now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man (Christ Jesus)… He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead” (ACTS 17:30-31 NKJV). God now offers us the forgiveness of sins. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (ROMANS 5:8 NKJV).
May we kindly ask, what is your hope for eternity? Place your personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and trust Him for all your need. Come and hear more of this great news, so that “your faith and hope might be in God” (1 PETER 1:21).
